Eclectic by character. United in impact.Carlton Hotels is a family of 11 unique hotels across Europe. Every hotel has its own atmosphere, location and character. What connects us is the way we deal with our impact.
We want our hotels to be more than pleasant places to stay or to work. We want them to contribute something positive, for our people, our communities and the world around us.
That is why we are building a clear sustainability approach for the years ahead. With concrete steps, realistic goals and room to keep learning and improving.

Responsible sourcing & less waste
Much of our impact lies in the everyday choices we make. In what we buy, what we serve and how we handle waste.
We increasingly work with suppliers who are transparent about their products and their origin. When we renovate, we look for opportunities to reuse and we ask questions about materials and lifespan.
At the same time, we are taking steps to reduce waste, increase recycling and cut food waste. For example by purchasing more precisely, matching portion sizes more carefully and working with initiatives such as Too Good To Go.
Our goal: we are working towards less residual waste per stay, more recycling and less food waste per stay.
Climate & environmental footprint
We take a critical look at our energy and water use and at our CO₂ emissions. Where can we be smarter about what we use? Where can we use less?
We are mapping this more accurately hotel by hotel and taking steps to improve. Think of energy savings, more efficient water use and exploring more sustainable energy sources. From 2027, we will purchase fully renewable electricity for all of our hotels.
We have the ambition to reduce CO₂ emissions per hotel and work with clear targets to get there.
We are on our way, step by step, with an eye for what is already possible today and what can be better tomorrow.
Local entrepreneurship & community
Our hotels are inseparable from their surroundings. From the people, flavours and stories that make each place unique.
We work with local producers and partners and bring that local identity to life inside our hotels. From dishes on the menu to collaborations with businesses in the neighbourhood.
That way, we give guests more than a stay. We give them an experience in which they really get to know the place. And at the same time, we contribute to a strong and lively community.
Our goal: every hotel develops initiatives and partnerships that contribute to its local surroundings and fit the character of the destination.

We share our progress every year in our Impact Report and continue to learn, test and improve.
For us, hospitality goes beyond comfort. It is about attention, responsibility and moving forward together.
Sustainability
at Carlton AmbassadorCarlton Ambassador is located in the heart of The Hague, surrounded by international organisations, culture and history. The city provides an inspiring environment where different people, ideas and backgrounds come together.
Within the hotel, we take practical steps in our daily operations. One example is waste management: we actively separate paper, plastic, food waste, residual waste, glass and deposit-return materials.
Looking ahead, we are exploring initiatives that fit both our hotel and our city. These include neighbourhood clean-up events combined with Meet the Neighbours activities, initiatives for elderly residents and opportunities to further improve the building through insulation, double glazing, LED lighting, water-saving measures and potentially solar panels.
Green Key
Carlton Ambassador holds Green Key certification, Bronze level (last assessed in 2024). Green Key is the international eco-label for sustainable business practice in the hospitality sector. An independent auditor assesses areas such as our energy and water use, waste separation, purchasing and the way we communicate about all of this. As a guest, you will notice this in the choices we make and in the way our team works together on improvement.
